Privacy policy
What we collect, why, and what you can do about it.

Pit Lane Open (www.pitlaneopen.com) is run by Chris Pollitt (Nocturnal Media), who is the data controller for this website. You can contact us through the contact page.
What we collect
- Contact form: your name, email address and message, so we can reply. Kept for up to two years, then deleted.
- Lap time submissions: the name you want shown, your email address, and the lap details and proof link you send. Your name and lap details are published if approved; your email address is never published and is only used to ask about your lap. Kept while the lap is on the leaderboard, or until you ask us to remove it.
- Server logs: our web host records basic technical information (IP address, browser and pages requested) to keep the site secure and working. These are kept for a short period.
- Outbound clicks: when you click a Book or organiser link we count the click (which link and when) so we can see which listings are useful. We don't store who clicked.
The legal basis for the contact form and lap submissions is your consent and our legitimate interest in running the site. You can ask us to see, correct or delete your data at any time.
Adverts
This site shows adverts from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technology to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and to measure them. In the UK and EEA you'll be asked for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time using the privacy settings link shown with the consent message. You can also manage personalised ads at Google Ad Settings and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Maps and fonts
Maps use OpenStreetMap tiles, and the site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser contacts those services directly, so they receive your IP address in the normal way.
Third-party websites
We link to organisers, circuits and insurers. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave Pit Lane Open.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Contact us and we'll respond within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
