Anglesey Circuit (Trac Môn)
Clifftop circuit on Anglesey's west coast with sea views, big elevation changes and the downhill Corkscrew, run on the Coastal or full International layout.

Trac Môn sits on the old RAF Ty Croes site, right on the edge of the Irish Sea on Anglesey's west coast. Club bikes first raced round the old service roads in 1992, the place was licensed properly in 1997, and a big rebuild in 2006 gave it the four layouts it runs today. On a clear day you can see Snowdonia across the bay while you queue in the pit lane.
Most track days use the 2.494km Coastal circuit or the full 3.380km International GP, and both are great value for the long drive. There's real elevation, a banked corner, a couple of blind crests and the downhill Corkscrew, so it rewards commitment without being the scariest place in Britain. Cars and bikes both run here regularly, and the wide run-off on the newer sections makes it a decent choice for a first visit, as long as you respect the weather.
A lap of Anglesey Circuit (Trac Môn)
Layout: International GP, 3.380 km (2.10 miles)
Out of the pit lane you head into Turn 1, a fast left of about 90 degrees that wants the full width of the track on the way in and the way out. It's quicker than it looks, and most people take a few sessions to commit to it. Straight after comes the Banking, a right-hander where a wide entry and late apex set you up for the climb out of it. Get the exit right because the next bit is fast.
Church is a long, quick right taken in a high gear. A gentle lift or a light brush of the brakes on entry, then back on the power well before the apex, is the way to do it. Rush it and you'll be fighting understeer all the way round. That run takes you up the hill to Rocket, a hard braking zone into a left-right that doubles back on itself. Brake in a straight line, turn in early and stay tight on the left part, because nearly everyone runs wide here at some point and it ruins the downhill right that follows.
Peel is a long right that goes over a crest, so you're turning with the car or bike light. Don't use all the road on the exit. Keep it tidy and you're set up for the drop down towards the Corkscrew, a left-right-left that falls away under you. Trail the brakes lightly in, flick through, and carry speed over the ripples on the way out onto the pit straight.
On the International layout you miss the Corkscrew and head out along the Tom Pryce Straight towards the sea. At the end is a slow 180-degree hairpin, a big stop from high speed, followed by a quick sequence back onto the start straight. Patience at the hairpin pays off, because a tight exit gives you a clean run onto the longest bit of flat-out track on the lap.
Track day tips
- It's right on the coast, so wind is a real factor. A strong crosswind on the straights can move a light car or bike about, and showers blow through quickly.
- Rocket is where most people run wide. Brake early and upright, and get the car or bike turned before you think about the throttle.
- Noise limits are typically 105dB static and 95dB drive-by, measured around the lap, so bring a quieter exhaust option if yours is borderline.
- Book accommodation early for summer dates. Rhosneigr and Aberffraw are close, but they fill up with holidaymakers.
- Fill up before you reach the circuit. The lanes around Ty Croes are quiet, and you don't want to go hunting for fuel at the end of the day.
- Ask on the day which layout you're running. Coastal and International share the first half of the lap but finish very differently.

Getting there
Cross the Menai Strait and take the A55 across Anglesey, then follow the A4080 down towards Rhosneigr and Aberffraw. Use LL63 5TF in the sat nav. It's a long run for anyone south of Manchester, so a lot of people drive up the night before. Ty Croes has a small railway station a short taxi ride away, and Holyhead's ferry port is close if you're coming from Ireland. Rhosneigr has holiday lets and pubs, and there's more choice in Holyhead and Bangor.
