How much does a track day cost?
Real prices from the dates we list, what makes one day dearer than another, and the extra costs people forget.
The short answer: a car track day at a UK circuit usually costs somewhere between £100 and £300, and a bike day a little less. Why prices vary so much
The circuit. Big-name tracks like Silverstone, Brands Hatch GP and Spa cost more to hire, so the days cost more. Smaller tracks such as Blyton, Lydden and Llandow are much cheaper.
The day of the week and the season. Weekday and winter dates are cheaper than summer weekends. Evening sessions, usually a few hours after work, are the cheapest way onto most circuits.
Numbers on track. Days with limited numbers cost more, but you'll spend far less time stuck behind traffic.
What's included. Some organisers include tuition, photos or timing; others charge extra. Check the organiser page before comparing prices.
The extras to budget for
The entry fee is only part of it. Fuel goes quickly on track, often three or four times your normal use. Tyres and brakes wear fast. Most people also pay for track day insurance, and passengers, extra drivers, tuition and garages usually cost extra too. If your car is loud, check the noise limits before you book, because failing the noise test can mean a wasted day with no refund.
