BMW track days in the UK

BMW-only days are rare in the UK, so here's where they turn up, and how to pick an ordinary day that suits your car.

Unlike Porsche, BMW doesn't have one big club running a calendar of owners' track days in the UK. BMW-only days do happen, but they're occasional, and most BMW owners simply book a normal open pit lane day with Javelin, MSV, OpenTrack or RMA. That's no bad thing. An M2, M3 or M4 is a common sight at any UK track day.

BMW-only evenings at Brands Hatch

For the past few years there's been a BMW-only evening at Brands Hatch Indy each spring, booked through MSV Trackdays. Werke magazine hosted one in March 2023, AUTOID in May 2024 and Hack Engineering in May 2025, at around £145 to £149. They ran open pit lane with a 102dB static and 90dB drive-by limit. Nothing is confirmed for 2027 yet. If one is announced and it's on MSV's calendar, it'll show up below.

BMW Car Club GB

The BMW Car Club of Great Britain was founded in 1952 and has over 4,000 members. Track days are one of its member activities. Its most recent day we know of was at Oulton Park on 14 November 2025. In past years it ran around six days a year at circuits like Anglesey, Cadwell, Croft, Knockhill, Snetterton and Oulton, and non-members could book. Check the club's own website for its current dates.

Upcoming BMW-only and club days

None listed right now. Club calendars usually come out over the winter, and we add them here as soon as they're published. In the meantime, any open pit lane day on our full calendar will take your car.

Driving BMW's cars instead

BMW UK runs M Race Track Training at Silverstone, but it uses BMW's own M2, M3 and M4 fleet, not your car. It costs £1,600 for a full day. If you don't own an M car and just want a go, Trackdays.co.uk hires out an M2 Competition for £2,150 plus the cost of the track day.

Noise

We couldn't find any published static noise figures for the M cars, so we won't guess. Standard cars generally sit fine with the usual 105dB static limit. The cars that get black-flagged are almost always running louder aftermarket or M Performance exhausts. The quiet circuits to watch are Castle Combe (100dB static), Bedford (87.5dB drive-by) and Thruxton (90dB static).

What to expect on track

evo's long-term look at the F87 M2 is a fair guide to what a standard M car is like on track. It only came with iron brakes, which start to groan after a few hot laps, though the stopping power holds up well. The pedal can go inconsistent if you lean on it too hard. It's a lively car that wants to oversteer almost everywhere, so turn the traction aids down a step at a time. Whatever you drive, fit fresh high-temperature brake fluid, check the pads, and bring oil. Your road insurance won't cover you on track, so read our insurance guide.

Noise limits at the circuits that matter

These are the usual limits. Organisers sometimes run quieter or noisier days, so always check the day you book. There's more on how testing works in our noise limits guide.

BMW track days: questions people ask

Are there BMW-only track days in the UK?

Occasionally. The most regular has been a spring BMW-only evening at Brands Hatch Indy, run through MSV Trackdays with a different host each year. The BMW Car Club GB also runs track days for its members.

Can I take my BMW on a normal track day?

Yes. Any open pit lane day from organisers like Javelin, MSV, OpenTrack or RMA will take a road-legal BMW, as long as it passes the noise test and scrutineering on the day.

Will my M car pass the noise test?

Standard cars usually pass the common 105dB static limit. Louder aftermarket exhausts are what get cars sent home, especially at Castle Combe, Bedford and Thruxton.

Can I use my own car on BMW M Race Track Training?

No. BMW UK's course at Silverstone uses its own M2, M3 and M4 fleet, and costs £1,600 for the day.
